Dry Skin in winter is a common problem for which you need to know and follow winter care tips from the very start of the winters. Due to lack of humidity in air during winters, your skin is stripped of from much needed natural oils and moisture. Last week we shared with you Our Night routine for Healthy Skin in WINTERS!!!!! and now we are here with few tips for protecting yourself during this cozy season.
1) HYDRATE YOURSELF
Drinking water helps your skin stay young looking: If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times. Water is good for your overall health. In winter, the air you breathe is drier, and your lungs have to work harder to humidify that air and warm it up. The harder your body works, the more you need to drink. So don’t just think keeping yourself hydrated is summer thing, in winter it is much needed.
2) AVOID EXTREME HOT WATERS
In winters you are tempted to immerse yourself in a hot bath. Do you know that hot water strips the oils from your skin? If you are prone to dry skin, this will do you more harm than good. To nurse your dry skin, the solution is to keep your showers and baths short and use lukewarm water instead of hot water.
Exfoliating is one of the most important aspects of your home skincare routine for face and body. Exfoliation is the removal of dry/dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. This step is most important in winters too, it will help in removing the dry skin which tends to nurse on more in winters. It will give healthy and glowing skin and help in reducing breakouts and acnes.Do it once in a week, not more as it will leave skin more dry.

4) AVOID WET CLOTHES
You know it’s important to wear warm clothes and shoes during cold weather. However, you might not realize that how you layer your clothing can also affect your skin’s health. Avoid wearing itchy fabrics like wool next to your skin. Try to wear softer, less abrasive fabrics, like cotton, closest to your body in order to let your skin breathe. Also, keep in mind that if your clothes become wet, you should change into dry clothes as soon as possible — wet clothes can irritate your skin.
5) MOISTURIZER MOISTURIZER AND MOISTURIZER
The key word is moisturise your skin as much as you can. Use a heavy cream which will trap moisture in your skin. Avoid using fraganted creams and use those which suits your skin. Go for the moisturizers which contain vitamins and other ingredients which will keep your skin healthy and supple. Petroleum jelly also works wonders, it not only obstructs the wind from touching your skin, but is a strong moisturizer as well. Also switch to gentle cleanser and face wash during winters as chemicated products affect more in winters.
Use natural oils or coconut oil for moisturising your skin, they are best moisturizer. You can also use home made ghee over your chapped lips.
Winter sun can be just as damaging as summer sun. Applying a SPF 20 OR SPF 25 suncreen to any exposed areas will give you the physical protection you need.
7) EAT HEALTHY
Eat seasonals fruits and vegetables, its best time to eat them. Go for cabbage, brusels sprouts, beet roots, porridage, carrots, green vegetables and list goes on. Ask your mom to treat you with some delicious home made desserts which includes lots of dry fruits as its best time for your body to digest whatever you feed in.
8) DON’T IGNORE THE FEETS
Feets are affected majorly during winters. Cracked feets sometimes leads to bleeding. Wear warm socks and slippers even you are home. Apply creams to heal it as soon as they appear. Once in a week go for soaking your feets in hot water.
9) PREVENT YOUR SCALP AND HAIRS
In winters shampoo less often to help with itchy, flaky scalp, always remeber to use conditioner after wash.Switch to an health oil massage. Cut down on heavy heat styling routine.Also avoid colouring your hairs as it will damage the scalp more .
Use yogurt on your scalp to get rid of dandruff. Apply on your scalp evenly and then keep it for 30mins and then wash with luke warm water.
