Fabric markets to visit in “Wedding” season!

Wedding season is around the corner.. and whenever this season arrives we are all pumped up to attend the weddings looking our gorgeous best!!

we Indians can’t get enough of weddings..the decors, lightings, chandelier, the chaos of relatives, yummy food, prayers, customs, traditions and to get noticed we are in our best outfits. There are so many customs in an Indian wedding, that it goes on for 3-4 days at a stretch. Taking into consideration the ample amount of spending going on during this season, we surely spend a lot on our apparels too, be it the bride/groom or their relatives, each and every one puts an effort and chooses to look classy for the wedding vows.

Since we are designers and running a clothing brand as well, it is really a hectic yet fun task we must say. So we tend to roam a lot around fabric markets to get the best fabric needed for our product to look chic and stunning.

There are many such fabric markets in Mumbai, since Mumbai is a fashion hub, many fashion events like lakme fashion week and other celebrity events are held here. Also the best fashion institutes hail in Mumbai. So for these events and shows designers certainly require unique patterns, textures and prints and we are truly blessed to live in this city as a designers. we are surely making the most out of it!

Okay!! back to the topic, so for this wedding season we Swanksters are sharing with you all about the markets for fabric where you will find from cheap to high cost fabrics as per your requirement. since there are hell lot of markets selling versatile pieces of fabric in Mumbai, we had handpicked some of them which we visit often and we recommend you to visit the same if you are heading for a occasion or wedding or being a bride yourself!!

Wholsesale textile market, Kurla;

you will find here fabrics from normal cotton to embellished ones, mostly they offer fabrics that are mostly used for occasion wear like lehenga, salwar, sarees, etc. but they do offer some fabrics such as silk and net at really affordable prices. Also you will find patches i.e. a meter of fabrics in chindi market, kurla at very cheap rate. Since this market is located near to to kurla station, west,  you will always find it flooded with people selling and buying stuffs.




Mangaldas market ;

Much larger market then kurla, it is located near CST station, Mumbai. If you ask anybody they will guide you to it, since it is very popular shopping spot. Now here you will find lanes which are numbered, so that it is easy to locate the shop you are searching for, or you will surely be lost. In this market you will find every type of fabric be it cotton, silk, tissue, net, velvet, embellished, brocade, delicate hand work, designer fabrics, etc. the price depends on the type of fabric and they offer fixed rate, no bargaining. But its quite a spot if you are looking for something unique or trending pieces of fabric for your big day. you should surely check on this one.


Saroj Fabrics ;

A range of variety of fabrics with unique and never seen before prints will mesmerize you. Located in Ghatkopar east, it is a one stop shop for designer fabrics. You will find every kind of fabric you wish for under one roof. The price range is quite high though but its worth the price, a one time investment for your wardrobe you can say. They also have branches in Khar & Borivali.


Bhuleshwar Market;

Yet another overwhelming sight of bridal wear shops you will find in bhuleshwar. shops are lined up in this locality specially for bridal readymades and they offer some awesome collection. Also, on the way to the market there are some small stall like shops selling amazing unique collection of danglers, and laces which will go perfect with your ethnics.
