Yoga v/s Exercise..

           We all thrive in keeping our health at its best. All of us want to be physically and mentally fit, which has led to innovation of varied physical activities. Nowadays everyone is majorly health conscious and just want to be in their perfect abs and in toned figure. So for maintaining the abs and the sexy slim figure people dive into the sea of fitness centers, which offers to obtain the dream body you always wished for, with the help of exercise or yoga or some even advises to follow certain diets. But due to these different options, we fall in a muddle, whether to opt exercising or gym, where you tend to get results in short period of time or whether to acquire healthy body by long-term means i.e. yoga.

People are so occupied with their hectic schedule that they lean towards options which provide instant results. But are they helpful to deliver lasting benefits??

  Yoga, Indian originated is a group of mental, spiritual and physical exercises. The different poses or the asanas in yoga helps to strengthen and relax the body as well as soul. It also helps in toning your body but while it’s doing that, it also helps you to be truly in the moment and infuses your spirit with positive energy.  Yoga is all about harmonizing body and soul with various asanas and postures.

EXERCISE

Exercise is defined as any movement that makes your muscles work and requires your body to burn calories. There are many types of physical activity, including swimming, running, jogging, walking and dancing, to name a few. Gym is a place where a person works out on different types of machines, to build muscles and increase physical strength. Doing regular exercises in gym helps a person gain physical fitness. It also stimulates the brain’s functioning. Regular exercise at gym helps reduce fat and keeps people safe from health problems such as diabetes, blood pressure, sugar, heart attack.
EQUIPMENT USED

Yoga is generally self-sufficient. This means it can be performed without any equipment. Even a yoga mat is not an absolute requirement. All a person needs is adequate space for the poses to be performed.

Exercising typically requires equipment, which is limiting in terms of the physical activities one can do. It is also limiting in terms of where one can perform the exercises. Some exercises even require one’s participation in partner or group activities.

The ultimate goal of yoga is to reach a higher state of consciousness. Yoga helps in improving physical appearance and health,. Yoga offers asanas, pranayama, mudra, and do internal cleansing by getting rid of emotional blockages.

While exercise is mainly done for two main reasons weight loss or better physical health, there are also other reasons, such as improving blood circulation, developing athletic skills, and others. In other words, the ultimate goal of  exercises is to improve physical appearance or physical health.

Most yoga studios and local gyms offer yoga classes that are open to all generations and fitness levels. Everyone can feel accepted and included and, unlike other sports or classes that focus on niche clients, yoga tends to offer open arms. whether you are 90, 53, or even 10, yoga can help you.

Exercising is often performed by people who are in good health since many of the activities are difficult to do when one is sick. Furthermore, while there are exercises that older individuals can perform, the more strenuous activities are usually done by younger people.

RISK FACTOR

Yoga involves a low risk of injury because the poses have little impact on the muscles and ligaments.
While exercise involves high risk as it involves heavy weight training and physical activities which need to be performed under supervision.

MUSCLES TONING

Gym exercises help build muscles and make them pumped and bigger because of the heavy weight lifting exercise and physical training.

while yoga just helps in strengthening the muscles while keeping them lean.

CONCENTRATION

Yoga benefits mind the most and hence helps in improving concentration power.

Exercise is just for physical training ,hence it doesn’t have any impact on concentration.

Exercise and yoga have become synonymous in the present-day usage of the terms. But, while yoga involves certain physical activities or poses, which can be translated into exercises, exercise typically does not involve yoga, which aims to help a person attain a higher state of consciousness. The best way is to practice both yoga and exercise simultaneously, do some exercise thrice a week and for other three days perform asanas which compliment the exercise done earlier.
